Col. Michael J. Colburn, director of “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band, orchestrates a rehearsal for the 57th Inaugural Parade in Souza Hall at the Marine Barracks Annex in D.C. Jan. 17, 2013. This is the Marine Band’s 54th inauguration. In 1801, the Marine band made its inaugural debut with “Jefferson’s March” at Thomas Jefferson’s inauguration. The Inaugural Parade will follow the swearing-in ceremony of Pres. Barack Obama taking place on the Capitol steps at noon. For centuries, Marines and other service members have supported inaugural events. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Staff Sgt. Mark Fayloga)
