Marines with Mobile Marine Air Traffic Control Team, Marine Medium Helicopter 364 (Rein.), 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, place marker panels that designate the beginning of a runway during a Mobile Marine Air Traffic Control training evolution in Djibouti, Jan 4. The mission for the MMT, or "pathfinders" as they're colloquially referred to, is to establish an assault landing zone (runway) and provide air traffic control for multiple aircraft as well as command and control during the entire refuel/resupply mission. The 15th MEU is deployed as part of the Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group as a U.S. Central Command theater reserve force, providing support for maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
