    Sales of Surplus Property
    Property no longer needed by the U.S. government or requested by authorized donation recipients can be sold to the public via auction if deemed appropriate and safe for release.

    DLA Disposition Services offers a diverse range of options for disposing of surplus military equipment and supplies.

    Sales effectively manage surplus inventory while providing economic and environmental benefits to buyers.

    Sales contract types include:

    • DEMIL as a Condition of Sale
    • DEMIL A
    • Scrap materials
    • Electronic recycling
    • Ship recycling
    • Tires
    • Non-scrap property

    Hazardous Waste
    DLA Disposition Services is entrusted with the critical task of managing hazardous waste as part of its comprehensive disposal services.

    Through a competitive “best value” concept, contracts are awarded to ensure efficient and responsible handling of hazardous materials. With oversight provided by over 150 Contracting Officer Representatives, supports over 1,100 military installations. Methods for disposal include recycling, incineration or landfilling while adhering to strict environmental regulations and standards.

    Special Programs

    DLA Disposition Services manages the DoD surplus and excess property. Property that is not reutilized, transferred or donated may be sold to the public. Property no longer needed by the U.S. government or requested by authorized donation recipients can be sold to the public via auction if deemed appropriate and safe for release.

    Reutilization
    The process of identifying and redistributing excess military property to other authorized military units enabling cost savings and resource optimization.

    Transfer
    Once Disposition Services has determined that there is no need for the property within DoD, the agency reports the property to GSA for transfer to another federal agency. These agencies are transfer customers.

    Donation
    The provision of surplus military property to eligible entities outside the DoD, such as state and local governments, law enforcement agencies and nonprofits supporting their missions and enhancing civilian capabilities.
