U.S. Air Force Col. Ricky Hern, partnership broker for the Air Force Community Partnership Program, shoots at a practice target at the Spokane County Sheriff Regional Training Center in Spokane, Washington, Oct. 19, 2023. This first-of-its-kind facility contains 21 lanes for small arms training, eight classrooms, a virtual training simulator and a defensive tactics room. This facility highlights the partnership between Fairchild Air Force Base, the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, and the Spokane County Board of Commissioners. The AFCP is a vital framework for fostering collaboration between military installations and their communities. By encouraging creativity, efficiency, and innovation, the program enables shared solutions to common challenges. Through these partnerships, leaders can leverage unique capabilities that enhance mission performance, reduce costs, and improve overall quality of life.
