The 377th Civil Engineer Center Wildland Fire Management Branch, and a team of fire experts from the U.S. Forest Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, and others, coordinated together to execute a series of prescribed burns at Kirtland Air Force Base on Mar. 9, 2023. Prescribed burns are an effective means of slowing potential future wildfires and are being conducted to address overgrown grass and wildfire fuel areas on the open land areas of the base.
