231225-N-CW190-1057 SOUTH CHINA SEA (Dec. 25, 2023) Senior Chief Cryptologic Technician (Technical) Angela Jiberno, from Mentor, Ohio, supervises the safe download of chaff rounds aboard Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Kidd (DDG 100). Chaff rounds are used as a distraction against radar-guided weapons systems. Kidd is assigned to Carrier Strike Group 1 and deployed to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific.
