Brig. Gen. Kirk Gibbs, commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pacific Ocean Division visited the site where a temporary elementary school is being built to replace one damaged in the August 2023 Hawaii Wildfires. The first units arrived on site Nov. 30, 2023. Each classroom is made up of several units. The first model classroom was set on its foundation Dec. 5, with all accompanying wall panels, windows, and AC units. As of Dec. 23, the first two rows of classrooms have been set with work beginning on the third row (for a total of 17 Classrooms and 2 Restroom modulars). Site utilities (water, sewer, and electric) are being placed in advance of the units being put on their pads but the utilities are not connected to the classrooms
