    U.S. Marine Corps Staff Sgt. Anthony Palmer, a joint terminal attack controller with 5th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, III Marine Expeditionary Force Information Group, applies a nasopharyngeal airway device during a Combat Life Saver course at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Dec. 19. NPAs provide an unobstructed airway a secure open airway passage which is used for conscious and unconscious casualties. The CLS course aims to eliminate preventable deaths by teaching all Marines and Sailors the Tactical Combat Casualty Care curriculum and integrating it into small unit tactics and battle drills.
