U.S. Marines from Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, answer questions from future female Brazilian Marine Corps Drill Instructors Jan. 15, 2024, in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. The U.S. Marine Corps Recruit Assessment team was in Rio De Janeiro to assist the Fuzileiros Navais with the integration of male and female recruit training which the U.S. Marine Corps began in 2019. Recruit Assessment is an all-women team based at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California, that conducted an assessment of Brazilian recruit training processes and infrastructure to aid in Brazil’s first group of female recruits that will begin training in February 2024 and to prepare for a future subject matter expert exchange to be conducted later this year.
