Fierro, Marine Corps Drill Instructor School Instructor, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, demonstrates how the women in the U.S. Marine Corps style their hair on Fuzileiro Naval Terceiro-sargento (Brazilian Marine Corps sergeant) Verena Cordovil, Fuzileiros Navais Instrutora de Recruta, during U.S. Marine Corps Forces, South’s Brazilian Recruit Training Assessment Jan. 17, 2024, at the Almirante Milcíades Portela Alves Instruction Center, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil. Drill instructors and leaders from Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego visited Rio De Janeiro to assist the Fuzileiros Navais with the integration of male and female recruit training. The U.S. Marine Corps integrated male and female recruit training in 2019, and this visit shared lessons learned from the process. The U.S.-Brazilian relationship is rooted in our common democratic values, our geographic proximity and desire for a free and open Western Hemisphere, and our shared history.
