Soldiers with the 1-128th Infantry Battalion, 32nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, conduct hasty defense training during the eXportable Combat Training Capability exercise July 24, 2023, at Fort McCoy, Wis. A hasty defense is a defense normally organized while in contact with the enemy or when contact is imminent and time available for organization is limited. Reconnaissance of the defensive area must be curtailed, and the defense assumed directly from the current positions of units. Honing these skills is essential to the job of our infantry so they are able to react quickly and efficiently in these situations. (U.S. Army Photo by Staff Sgt.
