On January 25, 2024, members of Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa’s Surgeon Cell Group, conducted the “Stop The Bleed” course to members of their forward deployed location. The U.S. Department of Defense course is designed for non-DOD members to learn some of the strategies and techniques for providing first aid in emergency and life-threatening situations. The course covered the correct application of a tourniquet, wound packaging, and applying pressure to various types of wounds.
At the completion of the course, those in attendance receive a STOP THE BLEED Course Completion Certification. Members also have the option of attending more sessions and becoming Certified STOP THE BLEED instructors. (Photo by U.S. Air National Guard Staff Sergeant Juan Paz)
