(Jan. 25, 2024) Andrew Garcia, a laboratory technician with Naval Medical Research Command (NMRC)’s Infectious Disease Diagnostic Laboratory, conducts reflex testing to determine whether positive Lyme disease samples are acute or chronic. NMRC diagnostic testing provides accurate and expedited results for the Fleet, safeguarding Sailor health and readiness. NMRC supports the Navy, Marine Corps and joint U.S. warfighters through research of infectious diseases, biological warfare detection and defense, combat casualty care, environmental health concerns, aerospace and undersea medicine, medical modeling, simulation, operational mission support, epidemiology and behavioral sciences.
