NAVAL SUPPORT ACTIVITY SOUDA BAY, Greece (Jan. 25, 2024) Lt. Col. Luke Sauber (left), Logistics Combat Element, 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable) (MEU(SOC)), commanding officer, participates in a Noncombatant Evacuation Operations exercise at the NATO Marathi Pier Complex in Souda Bay, Crete, Greece, on Jan. 25, 2024. The Bataan Amphibious Ready Group (ARG), comprised of USS Bataan, Harpers Ferry-class dock landing ship USS Carter Hall (LSD 50) and San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19), along with the embarked 26th MEU(SOC), arrived in Souda Bay, Jan. 20 and 21, for a regularly scheduled port visit. While in port, Naval Support Activity (NSA) Souda Bay provided Bataan ARG with harbor security, refueling and other port operations services. NSA Souda Bay is an operational ashore installation which enables and supports U.S., Allied, Coalition, and Partner nation forces to preserve security and stability in the European, African, and Central Command areas of responsibility.
