International Military Engagements Planner Capt. Liam McNeil, U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), speaks at his promotion ceremony to captain at Victoria Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in Livingstone, Zambia, January 25, 2024. Members of SETAF-AF and the Zambia Army were meeting for the African Land Forces Summit (ALFS) 2024 main planning event and took advantage of a visit to the falls to hold McNeil’s promotion ceremony there. McNeil commissioned into the U.S. Army Reserve through Army ROTC at Syracuse University.
Sponsored by the U.S. Army Chief of Staff and co-hosted by SETAF-AF and the Zambia Army, ALFS 2024 will be held in Livingstone April 22-26. The event will bring together senior leaders from across Africa, the U.S. and other partner nations to solidify relationships, exchange information on current topics of mutual interest and to encourage cooperation in addressing challenges.
