U.S. Army Paratroopers assigned to Bravo Company, also known as “Black Heart”, 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, hands off ammunition for a M240B machine gun during a live-fire exercise as part of Operation Devil Strike on Fort Liberty, North Carolina, Jan. 29, 2024. Operation Devil Strike is a brigade-sized joint forcible entry validation exercise designed to test Paratroopers readiness prior to attending the Joint Readiness Training Center on Fort Johnson, Louisiana. The 82nd Airborne Division is the world’s premiere joint forcible entry division, ready to jump, fight, and win anywhere in the world within 18 hours. Operation Devil Strike pays homage to 1st BCT’s nickname ‘The Devils In Baggy Pants’, which they received during World War II in Anzio, Italy. (U.S. Army photo by Pfc. Montarius McGlown)
