U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Daniel Griffin isolates an adjacent building during the 3d Marine Division Squad Competition at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Jan. 25, 2024. The competition tested the Marines across various combat-related tasks to evaluate each squad’s tactical proficiency, mental and physical endurance, and decision-making skills to determine the Division’s most proficient and capable rifle squad. Griffin, a native of Massachusetts, is an anti-tank missile gunner with 2d Battalion, 2d Marine Regiment. 2/2 is forward deployed in the Indo-Pacific under 4th Marine Regiment, 3d Marine Division as part of the Unit Deployment Program.
