U.S. Marine Corps Recruit Frederick Kammiller with Delta Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, takes a scheduled pause at the half-way point of an 8-kilometer hike at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Jan. 30, 2024. The purpose of the hike is to condition the recruits to rigorous terrain on Camp Pendleton in preparation for their 13-kilometer hike and culminating event -- the Crucible.
