240201-N-FJ200-1021 WASHINGTON D.C. (Feb. 1, 2024) Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Lisa Franchetti hosted the Republic of Korea (ROK) Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Yang Yong-mo for an official counterpart visit, Jan. 30 – Feb. 2. Yang’s trip to Washington D.C. was part of a week-long trip to the United States, where he visited Navy commands and spoke with Navy leaders and Sailors. On Feb. 1, Yang met with Naval History and Heritage Command leadership where he and NHHC Director Samuel Cox discussed ongoing efforts for a new and more publicly accessible National Museum of the United States Navy outside of the Navy Yard gates as well as the import roll naval history provides senior leadership in support of current operations. Near the end of the meeting, Adm. Yang presented Director Cox with his personal challenge coin, which the two gentlemen jokingly talked about the history of challenge coins and what they mean in building relationships to improving esprit de corps.
