    Western Air Defense Sector

    The Western Air Defense Sector’s 225th Support Squadron conducts a joint technical inspection of the radar and radios at Ajo Defense Program Facility near the U.S./Mexico border in Ajo, Arizona, Jan. 24, 2024. Pictured from left to right are Bruce Robie, WADS National Airspace System Defense Program manager and USAF-JTI team chief and U.S. Air Force Master Sgts. Christopher Hawkins-Jones and Adaryll Blackwell, 225th SPTS quality assurance radio evaluators. Ajo is equipped with an Air Route Surveillance Radar Model 4 (ARSR-4) which is a three-dimensional, long-range radar, and high-frequency radios. The system is jointly used by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the U.S. Air Force to control airspace within the continental United States.
