U.S. Marines with Marine Wing Support Squadron (MWSS) 174, Marine Aircraft Group 24, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, conduct a landing zone survey in preparation for Balikatan 24 at Marine Corps Air Station Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, Feb. 2, 2024. The survey takes geographical gradients, obstacles, and ground hardness into consideration to ensure it is suitable for a fixed wing aircraft. Balikatan 24 is an annual exercise between the Armed Forces of the Philippines and U.S. military designed to strengthen bilateral interoperability, capabilities, trust, and cooperation built over decades of shared experiences.
