Diana Sotelo, training manager, Security Cooperation Organization, U.S. Southern Command, participates in discussions about the International Military Education and Training (IMET) program as part of a staff planner working group in Bogotá, Colombia, Jan. 30, 2024. The IMET allows partner and allied nations to send military personnel to attend such courses as The Basic School and other Department of Defense education and training. This program focuses on training future leaders, creates a better understanding of the United States, establishes a rapport between the U.S. military and the country’s military to build alliances for the future, and enhances interoperability and capabilities for joint combined operation.
