U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Valentin Hernandezcastaneda, fixed-wing aircraft mechanic F-35, Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 501, Marine Aircraft Group 31, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, carries a simulated casualty during the Improvised Explosive Device (IED) Lane portion of a Corporals Course culminating event at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina, Feb. 2, 2024. The IED Lane tested Marines’ ability to navigate through adverse terrain while avoiding IEDs, transporting gear and performing casualty evacuation. Corporals Course is a month-long professional military education program that develops Marines’ small unit leadership skills and continues to prepare them to lead Marines.
