U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Gen. David Ottignon, Commanding General of II Marine Expeditionary Force, II MEF, left, and Craig Crouch, deputy command security manager with II MEF pose for a photo with after a Civilian of the Quarter award ceremony at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Feb. 13, 2024. Crouch, serving with II MEF for 26 years as a DOD contractor, received the award for his exceptional performance as deputy command security manager during the fall and winter of 2023. "You do the job because you want to be something bigger than yourself; you don't anticipate or expect to be rewarded but it's nice when it is", said Crouch. Prior to beginning his civilian career with II MEF, Crouch served 20 years and 10 months in the United States Marine Corps from 1979 to 1999, spending most of his career working in reconnaissance before transitioning into the signals intelligence field. "You like to think you're doing your job better or at least as well as your counterparts, on the west coast and overseas. You try to stray out to be the best, sure why not, otherwise why do it?", Crouch stated. (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Lance Cpl. Jack Labrador)
