Staff Sgt. James Pritchett was honored with the Lifesaver Award by Chief James Lowery, Jr., Schertz Police Department, for his assistance in helping an injured pedestrian last November.
City of Schertz police officer Henry Fahnert responded to a report of an individual that was injured while walking into a passing train. Staff Sgt. Pritchett, a 68W Combat Medic, observed the scene and quickly assisted in rendering lifesaving aid prior to emergency medical services arriving. He called upon his training and experience performing triage, applying EKG leads and monitoring the victim before he was transferred to the San Antonio Military Medical Center in critical but stable condition.
Staff Sgt. Pritchett's quick actions and skills in initiating first aid ensured the victim received life sustaining first aid. Without aid the victim would have expired.
Staff Sgt. Pritchett's unwavering commitment to public safety and his willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty serves as an inspiration to fellow members of the community.
