An AV-8B Harrier assigned to the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit’s (Special Operations Capable) (MEU(SOC)) Aviation Combat Element conducts flight operations aboard the Wasp class amphibious assault ship USS Bataan (LHD-5), Mediterranean Sea, Feb. 2, 2024. The 26th MEU(SOC) routinely conducts flight operations to maintain maritime security and support freedom of navigation in international waters. The Bataan Amphibious Ready Group, with the embarked 26th MEU(SOC), is on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. Naval Forces Europe area of operations, employed by U.S. Sixth Fleet to defend U.S., Allied and partner interests.
