OKINAWA, Japan (Feb. 05, 2024) Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) 3rd Class Jacob Bauer, left, from Hagerstown, Maryland, and Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Fueling) 2nd Class Aaron Inventor, from the Philippines, both assigned to the forward-deployed amphibious landing dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20) observe a CH-53 Sea Stallion helicopter from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), Air Combat Element (ACE) take off from the ship’s flight deck. Green Bay, part of the America Amphibious Ready Group, along with the 31st MEU, is operating in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations. U.S. 7th Fleet is the U.S. Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
