U.S. Marine Cpl. Hunter Sneed, a defensive cyber operator with 8th Communication Battalion, II Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) Information Group, holds a coin given to him by U.S. Army Maj. Gen. John H. Phillips, the U.S. European Command's Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Cyber Director (J-6) at Bardufoss, Norway, Feb. 27, 2024. The J-6 is a joint staff section responsible for command, control, communications and computer systems and provides commanders with the ability to make and communicate timely decisions across their areas of operations. II Marine Expeditionary Force Marines are participating in exercise Nordic Response 24 which is a Norwegian national readiness and defense exercise designed to enhance military capabilities and allied cooperation. This exercise will test military activities ranging from the reception of allied and partner reinforcements and command and control interoperability to combined joint operations, maritime prepositioning force logistics, integration under challenging Arctic conditions, in high-intensity warfighting including rugged terrain and extreme cold weather with NATO militaries, and reacting against an adversary force during a dynamic training environment.
