Royal Thai 1st Special Forces Division deputy commander, Col. Indhanondh Rattanakarn, right, and U.S. Army Col. Dave Coughran, commander of Special Operations Detachment - Pacific (SOD-P), review the performance of their special operations forces (SOF) staff officers and Soldiers during a Joint Planning Process course facilitated by Joint Special Operations University (JSOU) before Joint Exercise Cobra Gold 24 in Lopburi, Kingdom of Thailand, Feb. 22, 2024. JSOU prepares SOF professionals to address strategic and operational challenges, arming them with the ability to think through problems with knowledge, insight, and foresight. SOD-P provides trained, prepared, and equipped augmentation to U.S. Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) and U.S. Special Operations Command Pacific. Cobra Gold, now in its 43rd iteration, is the largest joint exercise in mainland Asia and a concrete example of the strong alliance and strategic relationship between Thailand and the United States.
