Local residents observe archaeological remains during a tour of an unearthed pre-World War II sugar factory on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, March 3, 2024. Archaeologists discovered the remains during the construction of a new fire station. After carefully excavating the site, 120 local residents were invited to observe its historical significance before it was preserved with sand to allow for new construction on the surface.
