Veronica Sheppard, Army health services admin with the 421st Medical Battalion-Multifunctional, fires her issued M4 Carbine while in the standing supported stance during the 30th Medical Brigade Best Squad Competition at Franken Kaserne military base, Ansbach, Germany on Feb. 29, 2024. The M4 Carbine has been in service since the 1990s and is the main weapon used by both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corps. Events like these are used as a test of grit and toughness, foster readiness and esprit de corps, and are a fundamental part of the Brigade's method of building lethal, cohesive teams and expert leaders.
