NAVAL BASE SAN DIEGO (Feb. 23, 2024) - Cmdr. Quinn Matt, commanding officer of the Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48), center, speaks with students from Urban Corps Charter School of San Diego County during their tour of the ship as part of a recruiting outreach program. Service in the U.S. Navy and the Surface Force provides unlimited opportunities and a strong sense of purpose. The Navy provides opportunities to achieve personal and professional growth through both schooling and hands-on, at-sea training that teach our Sailors skills that are highly valued in the civilian sectors.
