1. NEWPORT, R.I. – U.S. Naval War College (NWC) President Rear Adm. Pete Garvin greets Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. David Allvin as he arrives for a visit on board Naval Station Newport, R.I., March. 11, 2024. During the visit Allvin discussed the pace of change in our current dynamic strategic environment as well as the Air Force’s reoptimization efforts to best support an era of great power competition and face evolving security challenges. Allvin was appointed the 23rd CSAF in November 2023. He serves as the senior uniformed Air Force office responsible for the organization, training and equipping of 689,000 active-duty, Guard, Reserve, and civilian forces serving in the U.S. and abroad. Established in 1884, NWC informs today’s decision-makers and educates tomorrow’s leaders by providing educational experiences and learning opportunities that develop their ability to anticipate and prepare strategically for the future, strengthen the foundations of peace, and create a decisive warfighting advantage.
