Firefighters with Naha City Fire Department and Marine Corps Installations Pacific Fire and Emergency Services, run to their stations during the final demonstration of a two-week rescue course in Naha City, Okinawa, Japan, March 8, 2024. Sogen Taira, a firefighter with MCIPAC F&ES, completed Rescue Squad Training with the Naha City Fire Department, making him the first firefighter from MCIPAC F&ES to complete a joint firefighter training hosted by a local national fire department in Okinawa. Taira along with five firefighters from the Naha City Fire Department showcased their abilities in high angle rescues, emergency medical services, vehicle extrications, confined space rescues, and fire rescues. To graduate the course, these firefighters completed two demonstrations involving scenarios that required them to save simulated casualties weighing 100kg (220lbs) and 60kg (132lbs) from the fourth floor of an apartment tower.
