U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Samuel Hobbs, an electronic warfare analyst with the command element, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, sets up a versatile radio observation and direction system during a sensor expeditionary advance base operation, for Iron Fist 24, on Kin Blue, Okinawa, Japan, March 12, 2024. The forward posture and continual training of the 31st MEU allows for expeditionary advance bases establishment at any time and place, adding to the complexity and sustainability of our actions in a future fight. Iron Fist is an annual bilateral exercise designed to increase interoperability and strengthen the relationships between the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Navy, the Japanese Ground Self Defense Force, and the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Force.
