This is the left femur of Pvt. John Pool, Co. H, 119th Pennsylvania Volunteers. Pool sustained a gunshot wound in his right thigh while at Rappahannock Station, Virginia, on November 7, 1863. His leg was amputated at the upper thigh on April 18, 1864. Pool died of exhaustion on April 26, 1864. [AFIP 1002276] (Disclosure: This image has been cropped to emphasize the subject.)
