Yorktown, Va. (March 25, 2024) Captain Dan Patrick, Commanding Officer, Naval Weapons Station (NWS) Yorktown poses for a photo with Commander Alfred Williams, the installation’s Executive Officer and staff members from the installation’s Fleet & Family Support Center after signing a proclamation in support of Child Abuse Prevention Month. Present during the proclamation signing were staff members of the installation’s Fleet and Family Support Center. Child Abuse Prevention Month (CAPM) is an annual observance in the United States dedicated to raising awareness and preventing child abuse. April has been designated Child abuse month in the US since 1983. During this month, the NWS Yorktown’s Fleet & Family Service Center joins other organizations and the Department of Defense to recognize the importance of communities working together to help families thrive, keeping children safe, healthy, and happy through education awareness.
