Command Sgt. Maj. Sherm Waters scans a visitor’s pass at Chaffe Gate while joining Col. Chris Ricci, Garrison commander, to work as a gate guard at Fort Knox, Kentucky, April 1, 2024. Ricci and Waters try to regularly get involved with a variety of the workforce on the installation by working these jobs directly. "It's great to be able to walk a little bit in their shoes and see how they keep the people of Fort Knox safe every day," said Ricci. "It's just good being a small piece of what helps keep the community safe."
