Jonathon Morse, a horizontal construction engineer with the New York National Guard’s 827th Engineer Company, 204th Engineer Battalion, and a native of Angelica, N.Y., saws a wood board during construction of wall support frames as part of search and extraction operations during a training exercise, April 17, 2024. Led by personnel from the 42nd Infantry Division making up the Region II Homeland Response Force, the week-long exercise brought together elements from across the New York National Guard and others to test their capability to conduct casualty assistance, decontamination, medical triage, and fatality search and recovery to save lives and mitigate human suffering.
