NORFOLK, VA (April 25, 2024) Sailors assigned to the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) polish a monument at the MacAurthur Memorial during a community relations event. In honor of the ship’s namesake, George H.W. Bush’s crew continues his initiative of service to the community through their very own ‘Thousand Points of Light’ community service program. Sailors from Bush worked with 41 organizations across 77 locations in the Hampton Roads area during their ship-wide day of service. The MacAurthur Memorial is a museum and research center dedicated to preserving and presenting the story of the life of General of the Army Douglas MacAurthur. The memorial also pays tribute to the millions of men and women who served with General MacAurthur in World War I, World War II, and the Korean War.
