The ceremony took place after the closing ceremony of the African Land Forces Summit (ALFS) 2024. The 489th Civil Affairs Battalion, part of the 354th Civil Affairs Brigade, 352nd Civil Affairs Command, U.S. Army Reserve provided approximately 90 Soldiers, 10 Civil Affairs Teams, and one Medical Functional Specialist Team to conduct engagements across Africa in support of SETAF-AF during a nine-month deployment. ALFS 2024, sponsored by the U.S. Army Chief of Staff and co-hosted by SETAF-AF and the Zambia Army, brings together senior leaders from across Africa and other partner nations, April 22-26 in Livingstone, Zambia, to solidify relationships, exchange information on current topics of mutual interest and encourage cooperation in addressing challenges.
