Danny Doyle, PepperBall instructor, teaches Airmen of the 163d Security Forces Squadron, California Air National Guard, to operate a PepperBall projectile launcher during a certification course, March Air Reserve Base, Calif., May 3, 2024. The course will certify Airmen as instructors to then teach other members of the unit. PepperBalls are a highly frangible round requiring less force on impact to achieve the same effect of similar less than lethal means. PepperBalls also increases intervention distances from 20 feet to 150 feet, assisting law enforcement to maintain public peace, order and safety during domestic missions guardsmen’s are called to support.
