Shu Ozawa, center right, and his escort, Cpl. Hunter Smith from the Marine Corps Base Provost Marshal's Office, introduce themselves before heading to see a traffic light, Camp Foster, Okinawa, March 25.
Ozawa, an elementary school student from Toyama City, Toyama Prefecture, loves traffic lights. He applied to a local broadcasting station in the prefecture to participate in a program called "Granting the Wishes of the Prefecture's Citizens" when he saw a picture of a "hanging traffic light" used at the base on the internet, saying "I want to see a very rare traffic light!" With Camp Foster's full cooperation, this event was realized. The escort Marine happened to speak fluent Japanese.
