2024年4月22日、沖縄県金武町のネイチャーみらい館で行われたアースデイ清掃と植樹イベントで、マングローブの植樹を前に、ネイチャーみらい館のスタッフの説明を聞く米海兵隊コミュニティサービス沖縄のキャンプ・ハンセン・シングル・マリン・プログラム（通称ＳＭＰ）に所属する独身隊員のメンバーと地元の子どもたち。彼らは合計32本のマングローブの木を植えた。
