JACKSONVILLE, FL (April 26, 2024) Elizabeth Anderson, a physician assistant at Naval Hospital Jacksonville Dermatology Clinic, uses a lighted scope to check a patient’s skin. A native of Jacksonville, Florida, she holds a Master of Medical Science Physician Assistant degree from Nova Southeastern University. Anderson says, “Skin cancer rates are high in Florida and it’s important to self-check monthly.” May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month, and skin cancer is the most common cancer in the U.S. To reduce risk, protect your skin from UV rays from the sun, tanning booths, and sunlamps.
