Structural engineers from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Louisville District, along with lake maintenance staff, row along the tailwater in order to enter the dam conduit to complete an inspection at CJ Brown Dam and Reservoir in Springfield, Ohio, Apr. 24, 2024.
Through the Dam Safety Program, USACE completes periodic inspections of its dams to ensure they remain safe, reliable and able to provide their intended benefits.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is responsible for more than 700 dams across the Unities States that provide multiple benefits such as flood risk management, navigation, water supply, hydropower, environmental stewardship, fish and wildlife conservation, and recreation.
