ASAN, Guam (May 9, 2024) - During a transformative visit to Joint Region Marianas Capt. Michael Smith, chief of staff, engaged students from the Joint Advanced Warfighting School (JAWS) in a comprehensive briefing. With his deep understanding of the political dynamics and policies in Guam and Micronesia, Capt. Smith illuminated the strategic importance of joint strength and collaboration in the area.
This visit underscored JAWS's mission to develop joint operational artists fully equipped to serve as senior planners, joint leaders, and advisors at the highest levels of defense, including the Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Joint Staff, and four-star combatant or sub-unified commands. JAWS graduates are historically informed, strategically minded, and skilled joint warfighters, capable of critically and creatively translating strategic decisions into operational and tactical actions through design-informed operational planning.
