Sailors from the U.S. Navy Ceremonial Guard conduct a funeral for U.S. Navy Radioman Third Class Starring B. Winfield at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington D.C., May 9, 2024. Winfield was assigned to the battleship USS Oklahoma, which was moored at Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, when the ship was attacked by Japanese aircraft on Dec. 7, 1941. The ship sustained multiple torpedo hits, which caused it to quickly capsize. The attack on the ship resulted in the deaths of 429 crewmen. Winfield was among those killed and after being accounted for, was returned to his family for burial with full military honors. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. Ashleigh Maxwell)
