U.S. Navy Lt. Cmdr. Aimee Grande, left, is welcomed back from her ERSS deployment by NMRTC Great Lakes Commanding Officer Capt. Chad McKenzie and Cmdr. John Ruggero at Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) May 2, 2024. ERSS Team 1 will return to work at the John H. Stroger Jr., Hospital in Chicago, finishing out three-year deployable orders. The Navy and Cook County Health partnership allows the team members to sustain their skills, continue to work as trauma team, and be ready for additional deployment when called upon until the conclusion of their orders. NMRTC GL, the Navy command co-located at Lovell Federal Health Care Center, is charged with providing operational training and ensuring readiness of active-duty Navy Medicine personnel. An ERSS team is comprised of a General Surgeon, an Emergency Medicine Physician, a Physician Assistant, a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, a Critical Care or Emergency Room Nurse, a Respiratory Therapy Technician, and a Surgical Technician.
