U.S. Air Force Col. Michael Pontius, 307th Operation Group commander, and William Pedeaux, site manager for B-52 academic training, conduct a pre-flight check on a B-52 Stratofortress at Barksdale Air Force Base, Louisiana, May 7, 2024. Pedeaux, a former B-52 pilot, was flying on the jet for the first time in 28 years. His sortie was part of an effort to help academic instructors at the Formal Training Unit see how upgrades to the jet function during flight. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Master Sgt. Ted Daigle)
